A GARDEN TOUR

  1. Your zucchini patch is so stunning, the plants grow so well and give you a great harvest. This season, my sweet corn patch is not doing well, but I hope the cobs are filled out. Love to see your watermelon grow so well on your interesting way. And the sun flowers look so promising. My sun flower plants still so small, about a feet on height, hope they will grow well and show me their beautiful flowers like yours.
Thank you for this interesting garden tour, so I can see your beautiful garden.
    Happy gardening!

  2. Your garden looks really good! Your watermelons are gorgeous! I use cardboard under mine too but I didn't realize it was an Amish trick, how neat! I'm guess a bird flying overhead is responsible for the sunflower. They do drop seeds from time to time.

    1. wow THE 100!! In July only 3 days made it to the 90's..we had 2 days where cool air (brr) came out of canada. We drop down in the 50's in JULY crazy weather. Most of August was in the 80's and we had a rainy summer. The last couple of weeks we are finally are in the 90's. Our weather in august has been fall like weather we are having warm days and cool nights..and a heavy dew each morning. What does this mean for our winter...a lot of folks thinks it means an early cold and snowy winter. boo! Yes I love fall the colors, with fire-pits and roasting marshmallow with drinking hot apple cider ...but I love summer warmth more. love you all Hi to the family.

  8. Hi Teresa, I just found your blog. Your home is beautiful. Your garden is lovely too. I'm with you, I baked 54 loaves of zucchini bread and shared an additional 24 loaves with neighbors and family. Our zucchini is still producing (Sept. 3rd). We love steamed zucchini with dinner and share the rest with our dogs. They love steamed zucchini with their kibble. We grow our watermelons and cantaloupes on straw. Keeps the melons clean and at the end of the season we cover the garden with all the straw so it can compost and feed the soil. Come Spring, we till it under and start all over again. We have 2 greenhouses and 2 outside gardens -- they keep us mighty busy. Currently I'm in the middle of canning tomatoes. Have already canned 79 quarts of peaches and made 32 quarts of applesauce from our tree. Next up will be salsa. Summer is a busy time for us but we enjoy it very much and are truly thankful and appreciative of the bounty we are given. It sure is nice to have the pantry full when winter arrives.
Thank you for sharing your home with us and allowing us to follow you.
We are currently looking for our hobby farm and rehabbing our current home.
Happy Day To You and Your Family -- Bobbie :)
