On the Porch

Welcome Back to a simpler time. it is up to
us to  bring back the basic of life the simpler time
that a front porch brings to our home and life.

My porch has went through many changes over the years,
it may not be Instagram worthy, and that's fine, it was built for
gatherings and simply just to enjoy.
It will always be my favorite place.

A gentle rocker slows life completely down!

Slow me down, O God and ease my mind.
Let me sit here awhile with you quietly, slowly.

For every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under heavens.
I miss my porch in the winter, when the snow comes to visits,
but there is the promise of Spring.

Just the other day my grandson said to me,
"Mamaw, I remembered on the porch  you always had
a basket of toys for us to play with,
it was so much fun."

Sweet memories indeed!

  The front porch faithfully
greets everyone home once again.

Pull up a cozy seat for yourself,
 enjoy a warm summer's evening.

The heavens declares his glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handyworks.

We love to set out on the porch during rain storms
or just to glazed at the stars on a dark clear night.

I love these little bare feet and boots,
while sitting on the front porch swing.
Sweet memories of these little gals.

My porch in Summer of 2024

We added a new roof because our metal roof was leaking.
We added board and batten across the front,
I love the vertical look. We bought a new front door to
let in more light and I'd painted the floors a tan color
to match the tan In the gable.  I am loving the new look.

As January's snow keeps us snuggled in the home,
I have enjoyed looking through
seed catalogs,
sketching out the front flower beds
and making plans for the orchard
and gardens in the backyard.
Do you have plans for your garden areas?

  1. Spring, Summer and Fall are all made for the front porch. I love yours and I love mine. Sitting outside listening to the birds or watching the world go by is so relaxing. Steve and I use to drink our morning coffee out there together on the weekends when he didn't have to be at work and when they were mowing the hay in the field across the road we would ask the neighbors over to sit and watch while drinking root beer floats :) Yours is so pretty and I love your swing, there are hooks on mine for a swing but they were installed so that the back of the swing would be near the house and so when you sit in it you're facing away from the house instead of facing in a good way for visiting and conversation, like yours is. I would have already had a swing if the hooks where the other direction. That photo of the little girls feet is adorable!

  2. Adding a front porch with a pergola is on my wish list. Not sure it will happen this year, but a girl can dream! I do have a back porch that I love. My next door neighbor and the kids often come over to sit and chat when I am sitting outside.

I love the new look to the front of your home. I especially like the color. I like nothing more than sitting on a porch swing, and your swing and view look so inviting.

I'm happy to see you blogging again!

    1. Hello sweet friend, you will get the pergola keep on aiming for it. Hey, dreaming is my middle name according to my husband (LOL) I adore your back porch, it is beautiful. Mind is not so hot! LOL! We have a deck and I just don't like the looks of them. On my wish list is to pull that thing down, and pour a large concrete patio...course we would have to add steps, not just any kind of steps, rounded steps with brick accents. This is where my husband says your dreaming! LOL! Thank you, so do I, it was a long time coming to changed the front of the house, it was on the wish list and we did it! Aw, you have encouraged me to blog again, so here ya go...not sure how often it will happen?. HUGS
