My Winter Escapes

This week our winter temperatures have been in the 30's, but in the garden within my greenhouse today it was 70 degrees.  It is like a trip to the south in my backyard. Not long after I have arrived in the greenhouse I found myself sitting at this little table in short sleeves.  It is amazing how warm this little greenhouse can warm up on cold winter days.  I love the sunshine and I love being out here.
I cannot wait until this little house is filled with flowers and plants. I have an idea, anyone like to come over for lunch and tea within the greenhouse?  I would love to have you!

While I wait for spring, I like to fill my windows in my home with plants and citrus trees.

This room is filled with a sweet aroma from the bloom on the lemon tree.

My two little girls have worked diligently on their school this week.  Creating with paints and papers spread across the old farmhouse table...for a moment they are lost in their art.

As for myself, I have lingered within pages of books that remind me who HE is.  I've faithfully applied the word of the year "dedicate or dedication" to each day in January. Can I see a difference? Yes, I feel the spirit of the Lord more in my prayer time and worship. He is faithful to draw nigh to us

I promise Spring is on her way!!

What are some things that you do to escape winter? How do you brighten up your home in winter?

I would love to hear from you! Let's Chat!

Simplifying The Greenhouse

The great thing about trying new things is that you learn from them.  I wanted beds in my
green house to see if I could grow a winter garden with summer seeds.

I have learned that the seeds will come up and start to grow, they don't mature and put out any fruit. We all know there isn't enough sunny days in the winter, a grow light would of helped. That would been an added expense.

I have learned that heating the greenhouse is very costly.  It jumped our electric bill up $150.00 more than our normal bill would of been.  A hand full of seeds isn't worth that.

Today, I am removing these beds.  I have discovered they are full of fungus, bugs, roaches, creepy crawly things, and a mother mouse has had her babies hidden in the dirt.   GROSS!  Smart little critters found a warm place to stay for winter!

This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Talk at you later.

The Garden Paths II

Paths for gardening carts.

Paths for little visitors.

My grandson loves helping and playing in the water.

These six garden paths are working out great.   I love the grassy paths; they make caring for the garden so much easier.   Instead of hoeing in between the rows, I simply mow them.    Today, we did a little garden work.  The weather has been perfectly nice and cool.

           Enjoy your weekend,

God is Great and Greatly to be Praised.

The Garden Paths

There are six rows each row are three feet one way, and twenty feet the other way. .
There are paths to mow, paths to walk barefooted in.
Paths for a garden cart, paths to share with little ones.

An easier way to garden don't you think?

Gardening Composting

After mowing I rake up all the grass clippings to use in my garden.

Adding the grass clippings right on the garden soil.

Along with some veggie scrapes.

Till it all under...composting with yard clippings.

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times: ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.

Strawberry Garden Pt 1

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory. Philippians 2:3

Our little daughter La la place her favorite garden bunny with the big eyes in the strawberry beds. She said the bunnies big eyes will scare the other bunnies away.  I love her to pieces.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked way; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  II Chronicles 7:14
